Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that occurs when triggered by overwhelming stress. Frequently the symptoms are triggered by a single or chronic traumatic event such as sexual assault, abuse, car accidents, military combat, the loss of a loved one or any other traumatic, dangerous, scary or shocking event.
Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event or time period. With PTSD, these symptoms continue even in the absence of danger and can disrupt daily life.
Getting effective treatment after PTSD symptoms develop (and as quickly as possible) is critical to reduce symptoms and improve function.
TMS provides an alternative to correcting the imbalance in the brain that is a result of PTSD. Resetting the brain gets a person back on track to living a balanced life.
